A mother hugs her son in front of the school, a school bus in the background.

For parents and guardians

“Where's the bus?” A clear, honest answer.

Buscolaire shows your children's trip: the estimated arrival, the scheduled time, the last location received and the stops remaining. When the GPS goes quiet, the app says so.

What you see

Your children's trip, and only theirs

  • Estimated or scheduled

The GPS-based estimate and the scheduled time are always kept apart. You know what the number on screen is based on.

  • Age of the last location

“Last location received 38 seconds ago”: signal freshness is always shown, with a clear label.

  • Stops remaining

How many stops before yours, and the trip status: scheduled, on the way, delayed, complete or interrupted.

  • Useful notifications

Departure, approaching your stop, reported delay or change: you choose what you receive.

  • Report an absence

Let the school and the driver know a child won't be riding, in a few seconds.

  • Several children

Switch between children, even if they attend different schools or ride different routes.

What each signal status means

These labels appear next to every position. They are calculated from the time of the last location received.

  • Live

    30 s or less

The location is recent; the arrival time is estimated from GPS.

  • Delayed location

    30 s to 2 min

The location is a little old. The estimate is still shown, with its age.

  • Signal lost

    More than 2 min

The last location is no longer reliable. The scheduled time is shown instead.

  • No live location

    No signal

No location has been received for this trip. Only the schedule is shown.

What Buscolaire will never tell you

Reassuring doesn't mean making things up. Here is what the app won't do.

What you see

  • Your children's bus, during their trips
  • “Bus arrived at stop” when GPS detects it
  • “Boarding confirmed” only if it was recorded
  • The scheduled time when the signal is lost

What you won't see

  • Other children, or a map of the whole fleet
  • The bus's position outside trip times
  • The driver's personal information
  • A “confirmed” boarding inferred from GPS alone

Access

By invitation from your school

To protect children, there is no open sign-up. Your school invites you by email and verifies your link to the child. If your school takes part in a Buscolaire pilot, it will send you the invitation.

Buscolaire is a web app: it opens in your browser, on a phone or a computer, and can be added to your home screen. There is no app to download from the App Store or Google Play.
